In an ongoing effort to help you sell more with online ads, RetargetApp now lets you benefit from running fully automated Smart Shopping campaign - a combination of Retargeting and Prospecting tactics powered by Google.
Smart Shopping will let you reach out to one of the biggest audiences on the Internet. Your products will appear on Google, Gmail, YouTube and a network of partner websites.
Why Smart Shopping?
It is estimated that Google ads help you reach 90% of all Internet users. Even if they ignore social networks completely (which can be the case with older audiences), you can still attract and re-engage them.
Just like with Facebook Ads, Google can show ads on different placements and devices to make sure that the user is reminded about your product until the time is right to make the purchase.
How do I start a Smart Shopping campaign?
Currently, Smart Shopping is available in the test mode for stores powered by Shopify. Once the app determines that you can benefit from a Smart Shopping campaign, you will see an invitation banner on RetargetApp dashboard:
To get started, you need to:
- Go to RetargetApp and locate the banner on the top of the page.
- Click on the blue button on the banner and sign in with Google
- Check your e-mail for a message from Google and click on the link inside it to go to your newly created Google Ads account:
Note: Due to high number of incoming requests, it may take a few hours for the email to appear in your inbox.
4. Add a payment method to the Google Ads account — it will be used to pay for Smart Shopping ads.
Note: your RetargetApp fee will be calculated based on your total ad spend on Facebook and Google for one Shopify-powered online store within a 30-day billing period. Learn more about the cost of RetargetApp here.
5. Message us at email@example.com once you are done.
That’s it! We will then run a campaign for you and send you weekly reports for you to track the campaign progress.
What Ad message should I use?
We at RetargetApp do everything in our power to save your time. By default, we handle the ad message creation and update for your Smart Shopping Campaign. However, if you would like to set up a custom ad message, please, remember that, just like with your Facebook ads, you should follow the ad message creation guidelines.
The ad message for Google consists of 3 parts: short headline (max. 25 characters long), long headline and description (max. 90 characters long each). Google can use either of the parts and re-combine them based on placement and search keywords, so be sure that each of the parts contains a finished idea. Here are some examples:

What daily budget do I set for Smart Shopping?
We recommend to set at least $20/day daily budget for your Smart Shopping campaign, since the ads will be reaching massive audience and lower budget can cause insufficient ad delivery and bring you less sales than you potentially could have.
Google needs 14-30 days to properly optimize the ad delivery and cost per purchase. During this time you shouldn't disable the campaign even if your Smart Shopping results appear to be negative.
Where do I view the Smart Shopping results?
Currently, the results of the Smart Shopping campaign can only be viewed in Google Ads Manger - you have full access to it 24/7.
